A wonderful book called  The Body Keeps the Score, written by Bessel van der Kolk, states that many veterans of the war lose control of their lives. A lot of them feel locked into an environment where they learned to commit themselves using certain norms that only work during a conflict or war.

Furthermore, for various reasons, many feel insecure in their own body. An example of this is constant memories of the past, which show an inner discomfort.

Humans are addicted and many people learn to ignore their instincts and are silent about their consciousness. That said, it’s important to remember that ignoring what’s going on inside of us causes us to lose control.

Many health problems such as chronic pain, fatigue, headaches and migraines are examples of inner cries for help. All of these things can be the result of ignoring our inner signals.

We pay a high price if we are not captains in our own lives. It makes us ignore and overhear what can really hurt us. Or the opposite of what is beneficial and safe for us.
