Our siblings are our best friends and we did not even have to pick them. They have made us hate them, they have annoyed us, they have ignored us, and they have driven us insane countless times. But after all, they are always there for us and we will always be there for them.
The relationship that siblings share is one of the most intense relationships that exists, with most ups and downs. But it is almost a law that a sense of unconditional love will prevail, one that creates a lasting bond and allows us to go through life’s journeys together.
While not all sibling relationships are positive, most remain united, and sharing love, toys, and happiness with brothers or sisters are some of the best memories we retain.
The blessing of siblings
As we have said, the emotional benefits of counting on a sibling throughout our lives are immense. Among other reasons, siblings can protect each other from loneliness, fear and grief.
So having brothers or sisters is always positive for children, and of course also for adults. Even sibling quarrels have an emotional benefit as they help us develop our ability to control our emotions, share, be flexible and set aside negative emotions like bitterness and envy.
Likewise, there are many other abilities that we develop by sharing our lives with our siblings:
- We raise our self-esteem.
- We learn to be more generous.
- We become more patient.
- We avoid emotional problems at an early age.
- We avoid feeling lonely.
Of course, these abilities can be developed without growing up with a sibling, but in some ways, having siblings gives a certain willingness to meet the needs of others.
The things we learn from our siblings
The love shared between siblings is incomparable because they bring us so many sweet memories full of smiles, fun and closeness . Their hands remind us of toys and happiness, and their faces remind us of infinite loyalty.
Of course, not all sibling relationships are positive. Some of them are malicious, competitive and lack all kinds of positive emotions.
Although sibling rivalry may have arisen naturally, without error or failure, poor handling of that rivalry can cause negative emotions to develop and feel a relationship that should have been wonderful.
But no matter what, siblings are family. Although time and distance separate us, we will always do our best to see our siblings’ smiles.
No matter what happens, even if the branches of the tree go in different directions, we always share our roots. We cry, live and laugh by each other forever. Because we will never forget what we have experienced together. We will always remember the knowing glances, games and reconciliation and unconditional love.
