The Manipulator In The Role Of Victim

The manipulator in the role of victim

Apparently, being  the eternal victim can have many benefits always . The victim is in one way or another protected from the criticism of others. You also get compassion and understanding from many, no matter what you do. In fact, anyone who dares to question the actions of a suspected victim is considered insensitive or blunt.

The victim role is in many cases  a strategy that has more benefits than problems. This condition provides a kind of immunity where everything one says is true. Everything one does is with good intentions. Everything one thinks is true. But in more than one case, an extortion hides behind the conscious or unconscious victim role.

The victims

There are, of course, real examples of victims. Such as when someone has been abused or the like, completely without a chance to react or do anything about it. For example, when a person is assaulted on the street or abused by another person. One who has power over them that they cannot escape: the power of the weapon, a uniform, position, etc.

Such situations can create an objective victim role. But this state is not eternal. Nor should it be a stamp a person can carry with them anywhere. After leaving the specific, powerless situation,  they retain the role of victim of their choice. Like a reality that never ends.

One thing is for sure:  a victim needs attention, care, support and love. The victim requires dedication and understanding in order to leave the state of shock and vulnerability. This cannot be disputed.

It can be debated whether the role of victim is an existential condition. When a traumatic event becomes an eternal stamp. Not just with the intention of reporting a terrible event, but to gain privileges that otherwise could not be achieved.

These are the kind of people  who make sure that their suffering is carefully exhibited in their lives.

In more serious cases, some believe that being a victim in a situation gives them the freedom to hate or hurt others.

To recognize the manipulator in the role of victim

There are certain signs that reveal those who manipulate by playing victim. The most important are:

  • The victim does not ask directly for what they want. Instead, they give vague messages in the form of a regret or regret. For example, they suddenly say to you,  “Nobody knows how hard it was for me to get here.” Then you do not know if they want you to acknowledge their efforts. Or if they complain because it was not difficult for you. Or whether they want you to help them with something specific.
  • You feel more or less guilty when you are with the person. Every conversation you have with the person makes you feel like you’re responsible for something, but you can not put it into words. There is a sadness or a vague feeling of discomfort inside you.
  • The victim is also suspicious and suspicious. The victim often warns you of the bad intentions of others and justifies his wrongdoings with the sufferings of the past. In fact, they may accuse you of their bluntness or apathy if you happen to criticize them.
  • They are able to make others make great sacrifices for them without having to ask. They brag about it. When someone shows these traits, then it is a person who has taken on the role of victim in life. It’s definitely someone who’s not happy about being in that position. They  have that behavior without really trying to show it.

To help the person out of the victim role

Whatever the case, it may be someone who did not finish their traumatic experience properly. They need your understanding, but also your sincerity.

The best way to help someone who is that way is by kindly and directly telling them what you think about their behavior.
